Meditation is a great way to overcome stress, promote health and well-being, and maintain a positive and relaxed attitude to life. Through following practical instructions, everyone can learn to meditate. These classes include guided meditations, practical advice, and positive thinking techniques for developing happiness and inner peace.
These weekly classes include guided meditations & teachings that are suitable for both beginners and more advanced meditation practitioners. The classes are given as a series, but can also be taken individually. Please feel free to drop in on a class-by-class basis. Classes are held every week unless otherwise stated. Everyone welcome!

In this series of classes, we will explore six meditation and mindfulness practices that anyone can use to make their lives more joyful and meaningful. These practices can easily be incorporated into our daily activities, and help us to deal with our problems, keep a happy mind, and bring benefit and happiness to others.

Sometimes happiness just isn’t as easy as it seems, and problems and painful experiences seem to come naturally. By learning to use our own mind we can reverse this situation and gain control over our life and therefore our happiness. By practicing the simple guidance explained in this class we can experience a deep letting-go of our problems and bring happiness closer to home than ever.

Learning to use our own mind is the gateway to finding happiness and freedom from our problems. We normally assume that happiness is to be found outside ourself, and we usually point there for the sources of our suffering, but in reality all we experience—good, bad and neutral— comes from the mind. What is the mind? By using our mind we can find real happiness and experience the peaceful freedom that arises when we solve our problems from within.

About the Teacher
Kelsang Chopag is the Resident Teacher of Samudrabadra Kadampa Buddhist Center in Fort Myers, Florida. He teaches meditation classes, workshops and retreats across the Southwest Florida area. He is an ordained Buddhist monk who has trained under Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso and other qualified teachers. Chopag began his practice at Kadampa Meditation Center New York, an internationally renowned meditation and retreat center in upstate New York. While in New York, he spent several years learning and practicing the meditative teachings of Buddha. His teachings are light, humorous and practical, and he uses logic and analogies to help others discover the meaning of Buddha’s teachings.
