Purification Retreat December 2017
We all have negative karma—this is what holds us back from fulfilling our wishes, both temporary and spiritual. It obstructs the development of our pure minds, manifests as suffering and bad experiences, and causes us to take unfortunate rebirths in the future. All of this can be purified easily with purification practice. Of all the purification practices, the practice of Vajrasattva is supreme—this is because all the Buddha’s specifically appear in the aspect of Vajrasattva to help us to purify our mind. Its methods are scientific and highly creative, and it feels like we’re going to our pure nature again and again, just removing what is obstructing it from shining. Once we purify our mind all the spiritual realizations will grow easily within us. This means our love and compassion will flourish, our wisdom will feel unobstructed and strong, our mindfulness will improve, and the light of our faith will grow bright. It will be easy to see good qualities within others and ourselves, and situations that used to get us down will feel like a pleasant dream—light, pure, and easy to navigate. Happiness will grow readily within us, and unhappiness and other negative states of mind will become rare and fleeting. All this is possible through purification practice.
In this retreat we will focus on how to purify during the sessions and how to carry this experience into daily life. It is suitable for those who are just starting as well as those who have more experience. It will be a good intro to purification practice as well as instructions on how to complete the Preliminary Guide of Purification.
This retreat is suitable for beginners or experienced practitioners. It will be guided in a light and practical way by Kelsang Chopag, monk and Resident Teacher.
