How to Meditate – Peace of Mind
A monthly meditation workshop in which you will learn the basics from why we would want to meditate to how to do it. How do we set up our meditation space? How long do we meditate? What do we focus on? What are some techniques to help us overcome distractions? The workshop will include some guided meditations and provide plenty of time for questions.
The main reason to meditate is that we want to be happy, and meditation induces the real source of happiness—inner peace. By being peaceful we solve all our problems and happiness arises naturally, by itself. So we don’t need to do anything in order to be happy other than learning to meditate.
Meditation, as it is practiced within Buddhism, is also a powerful transformational tool that enables us to develop whatever good qualities we will for. Developing these qualities, such as patience, compassion, and wisdom not only solve our problems and give us a meaningful life, but they give us some power to help others—either through our meaningful advice or by example.
